Zia is a Cold Range.
The concept is a
development of NRA Rule #3.
NRA Rule #3. Always keep the gun unloaded until ready to use.
This means that...

You must
be on a range to load or discharge a firearm.

You must
be on a range to handle a firearm.

You may not
walk about handling your firearm or showing it to a
friend.

Firearms
should be cased or holstered until you are on a range. If you do
not have a case or holster, point the firearm at the ground and carry it
to a range.

Do
not clean your firearm, perform maintenance or demonstrate it at your
vehicle. Take it to a range.

In
general, when moving a firearm from a vehicle to a range it should be
unloaded.

In
general, when moving a firearm from a range to a vehicle it should be
unloaded.
If you
are moving your loaded carry or ready firearm to and from a vehicle or range,
keep it holstered or pointed straight up. For a rifle or shotgun, have
the action open. DO NOT walk around with it
other than taking it directly to the range or your vehicle.

No
firearms handing of any kind is permitted during a cease fire. This
includes firearms disassembled for cleaning or maintenance.
